Support
Help with dueby, and how to reach a person when the answers below are not enough.

What dueby does
dueby keeps track of recurring things that have no fixed date. Each task has a recurrence — the longest you want to go between doing it and doing it again. When you tap Done, the next due date is worked out from the day you actually did it. Home shows what is due and what is coming soon, All tasks lists everything, and the Calendar shows what you did and what is due.
Signing in
You can sign in with either your username or your email address, and your password. An account keeps your tasks safe when you change phone or reinstall the app.
To change your username or email address, open Settings (the gear on Home), tap your username or email under Account, and confirm the change with your password.
Forgotten password
- On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot your password?
- Enter your account’s email address and tap Send code.
- Enter the six-digit code from the email, choose a new password, and tap Change password.
- Sign in with your new password. Every other device signed in to your account is signed out.
A code works once, for 15 minutes. Asking for a new code makes the previous one stop working. If no email arrives within a few minutes, check your spam or junk folder and that you typed the address your account uses. For security, the app does not say whether an address has an account, and codes can be requested only a few times an hour — if you are told there have been too many attempts, wait an hour and try again. If you still cannot get in, contact us from the email address your account uses.
Notifications
dueby can remind you on the day a task becomes due, and tell you when someone invites you to a task or joins one of yours. It sends one reminder when a task becomes due — it does not repeat it every day until you are done.
Turning them on
- Open Settings → Notifications and turn on Get notifications.
- Allow notifications when your phone asks. If This device says notifications are turned off, tap Open notification settings and allow them for dueby in your phone’s settings.
- Choose which kinds you want: Due reminders, Task invitations and Someone joins my task.
If reminders do not arrive
- Reminder time and time zone. Due reminders arrive at your Reminder time, in the time zone shown under it. The time zone is taken from your phone; if it says your phone is somewhere else, tap Use this device’s time zone.
- The task’s own switch. Each task has a Due reminders switch in its details. On a shared task that switch applies to everyone who shares it.
- Your phone’s settings. On iPhone, check Settings → Notifications → dueby, and that a Focus mode is not silencing it. On Android, check the app’s notification settings.
- Signed in and online. A phone receives reminders while it is signed in to your account. After you sign out, it stops. Reminders need an internet connection to arrive.
- Already due. If a task was already due before you turned reminders on, you get one reminder for it shortly afterwards — not a new one every day.
Notifications show the task’s title, so it can be read on your lock screen. To hide it, set your phone to show notification previews only when unlocked.
Shared tasks
- To share a task you own, open it, tap People, then Invite someone, and enter their exact username or email address. Choose Viewer (can see the task and mark it Done) or Editor (can also change its details).
- Invitations appear behind the invitations button on Home. You can Accept or Decline them; declining tells nobody anything beyond that the invitation is gone.
- When anyone marks a shared task Done, it is done for everyone.
- To stop sharing: the owner can remove someone under People; anyone else can choose Leave task from the task’s menu.
- Other people see your username — never your email address.
Unwanted invitations or abuse
Decline the invitation, and turn off Task invitations in Settings → Notifications if you do not want to be notified about new ones. If someone is using dueby to harass you or sends offensive content, email us with their username and the task title; we will look into it, and may remove content or accounts that break the Terms of Use.
Without a connection
dueby shows the tasks and calendar it last received when your phone is offline, and says how old they are. Changes such as marking a task Done need a connection.
Deleting your account
- Open Settings and tap Delete account.
- Enter your password and tap Delete my account.
Your account is deleted immediately and permanently, together with your tasks, their history, your notification settings and your devices’ notification registrations. Tasks you own are deleted for everyone you shared them with. Tasks other people shared with you stay with them; Done marks you recorded on them remain but no longer name you. This cannot be undone. See the Privacy Policy for what happens to backups.
If you can no longer sign in, reset your password first. If that is not possible, email us from the address your account uses and we will delete it for you.
Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account.
Other questions
Does dueby cost anything?
No. dueby has no subscriptions, in-app purchases or advertising.
Why do I need an account?
So your tasks survive a new phone or a reinstall, and so tasks can be shared. dueby asks only for a username, an email address and a password.
I did something a few days ago. Can I record that?
Yes. Open the task, or use Other ways to complete beside it on Home, choose I did this earlier and pick the day. The next due date is worked out from that day. A day earlier than the one already recorded cannot be chosen, and a recorded completion cannot be removed.
Which devices are supported?
dueby is made for phones: an iPhone with iOS 15 or later, or — where dueby is offered for Android — an Android phone with Android 7.0 or later. An iPad can run the iPhone version in a phone-sized window. The Terms of Use list everything dueby needs.
